Frank Trigg Vs. Josh Koscheck?

Frank Trigg

Frank Trigg

The MMA universe is getting rumblings of a possible Frank Trigg Vs. Josh Koscheck matchup in September.  This would be an awesome fight in my opinion if this is true.

Trigg is a veteran welterweight who has fought in the UFC before.  He has won his last four fights.  Koscheck is always willing to fight anyone and has recently shown improved standup, although he's lost his last 2 of 3.

You can keep up with Frank Trigg's twitter updates via @FRANKTRIGG.  I don't know Koschecks twitter account but if you do drop a line would ya.

Josh Koscheck displays some awesome power and striking in rebounding from a loss against Thiago Alves.   Koscheck knocked out Yoshiyuki Yoshida with brutal strikes early in the first round of the main event  of UFC Fight Night 16: UFC Fight for the Troops.

Mike Swick punished Jonathan Goulet in less than forty seconds with a quick TKO.  Swick lived up to his moniker with lightning fast hands and power to back them up.  He looked shredded and ready to take on anyone in the welterweight division.

Steve Cantwell ended his first bout in the UFC early to defeating Razak Al-Hassan via armbar.  Al-Hassan refused to tap and almost had his arm torn off by Cantwell.  Steve Cantwell was last seen in the WEC.

Tim Credeur won his second bout in the UFC defeating Nate Laughran before the third round could begin.  Credeur punished Laughran with strikes and Laughran was forced to verbally tap out before the third round even began.

Jim Miller deafeated Matt Wiman via decision with excellent striking and good ground and pound.  Wiman had no answer for Miller's striking but avoided several attempts by Jim Miller to finish the fight, including an early guillotine choke that had Wiman in deep trouble.

Great Month For MMA

Josh Koscheck

The UFC is putting on two events this month that will be televised by SpikeTV and a third event at the end of the month that will be on Pay-per-view.

The first UFC event is tomorrow night.  It's the FIGHT FOR THE TROOPS and features Josh Koscheck vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida.  Yoshida is a big up and comer in the UFC but I expect Koscheck to rebound from his previous fight and defeat Yoshida via decision.

This Friday will bring the Ultimate Fighter Season 8 Finale Team Nog Vs. Team Mir.  This event will showcase light weight runners Phillipe Nover Vs. Efrain Escudero.  While I don't think Efrain will lay down easily, I believe Nover has shown incredible talent and motivation in his fights.  I think Nover will be the Ultimate Fighter for the Lightweight Division for season 8 of the Ultimate Fighter.  I think in the Ryan Bader Vs. Vinicius Magalhaes matchup, Vini should win easily as Bader has shown zero standup and once things get to the ground, Vini's bjj should dominate.

UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 should be the ultimate in fight cards.  Names like Forrest Griffin, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Quinton Jackson, Frank Mir, Wanderlei Silva...  Wow.  Very exciting card.  I will post predictions on UFC 92 soon.

Josh Koscheck to Headline UFC Fight NightJosh Koscheck is scheduled to fight Yoshiyuki Yoshida in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Fight for the Troops.

Yoshida most recently beat War Machine by anaconda choke at UFC 84: Ill Will.  Josh Koscheck most recently lost to Thiago Alves by unanimous decision at UFC 90, a fight in which Koscheck had just two weeks to prepare for as he was a late substitute.  Look for Koscheck to try to rebound against up and comer Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

Also on the nights list of fights:

Jonathan Goulet vs. Mike Swick
Razak Al-Hussan vs. Steve Cantwell
Tim Credeur vs. Nate Loughran
Frankie Edgar vs. Matt Wiman
Brodie Farber vs. Luigi Fioravanti
Steve Bruno vs. Johnny Rees
Ben Saunders vs. Brandon Wolff
Dale Hartt vs. Corey Hill

Plenty of ex-Ultimate Fighter competitors on this card and Frankie Edgar vs. Matt Wiman should be fight of the night.
